It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood..

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,

A beautiful day for a neighbor,

Would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

Please won't you be my neighbor?

I. Can't. Take. It.

The Liberal Party of Canada just gets more stupid and more, well, embarrassing.  It's almost like I suddenly want to see a good idea from them.  The fact that the official opposition in Canada is this pathetic is an affront to all Canadians.  Even Conservatives like me should be ashamed.

I can see the morons at work, the old, tired Liberal "War Machine".

Old Guys: "We need to take advantage of how bad Stephen Harper looks in a sweater, it will create a contrast - you, Michael, are a great sweater-wearer, this is gold."

New Guy: "Uh, how about we spend some time creating some good policy that will help Canadians.."

Old Guys: "Who asked you?  We don't need policy.. we need bright red sweaters, and little kids."

New Guy:" Uh, yeah.. I'll be a Tim Horton's.. while I'm gone, maybe re-think spending a billion or so on daycare for lawyers' and dentists' kids.."

Old Guys: "..maybe we add a cute kitten..."
Hi boys and girls, can you say, "Majority Conservative Government".  Good.  I knew that you could.

Albertans should drink less. They wouldn't be so cranky all the time.

Good ol' TG. Great to be back in the land of middle-ground politics..

I'm not cranky - just, gosh, embrassed. I mean.. could you imagine Pierre Trudeau, in the midst of a dog-fight for his political life, doing some tired photo-op in a red sweater with some pre-school class.

Hardley.

He'd be begging for a fight on the street.. no holds barred.

But then, love him or hate him, Trudeau was a leader. He told his handlers how it was going to be - not the other way around.

This is not Michael Ignatieff.

Sadly for the state of political debate in Canada.

I was embarrassed by Harper's walk-on at the NAC..mostly by the audience, clapping and cheering like a bunch of star-struck groupies.

Y'see, I don't identify with Liberal leaders but with Liberal voters (people like me, in other words). I think that's different with Conservatives They need leaders to embody an identity to make up for one they haven't developed on their own.

When it comes to embarrassment, I'm surprised you've remained so silent about your fellow Blogging Tories. Good Lord...now that's a cringe-fest.

Do you ever read your own posts TG?

You just ooze stereotypical liberal ethos - you know, that gosh darn it, we're just smarter and more moral than everyone else.

That's why 90% of the time, I would rather have a conversation with a farmer who barely finished high school than a university professor.

You don't acquire wisdom when you isolate yourself in an ivory tower. Go ahead and bash conservatives all you want, TG.. but, deep down, those are the people who pay the bills to keep the lights on in this country - the farmers, the ranchers, the small business owners, the plumbers and electricians.

The average people who's opinions you think don't count because they're just not as smart as you and people like Michael Ignatieff.

Smarter? Absolutely. Beyond a shadow of a doubt. The smartest people are the ones who know that they don't know something and who are honest enough to admit it. What is truly remarkable about this species of Conservative is their ability to assert things that have no basis in fact or, more troubling, about which they have no way of knowing.

However, more moral? No. I do tend to believe that right wingers think morality or ethics are only an issue when someone gets caught though.

A conversation about what? In either instance, I would prefer a discussion with someone who's only talking about things of which they are reasonably informed.

I'm being given a lecture on the virtues of the common, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth man from a lawyer?

Rob, you've completely gotten the wrong image of me. I'm a hick from a mining town in Northern Ontario who got an education (which I paid for myself) and went out into the wider World. I don't need any lessons about class from you.
