Michael Ignatieff and Monty Burns.. the Resemblance is More Than Skin Deep

Men of the People?

Is it just me, or do you see the resemblance too?

Well.

Since his ascension to the Liberal throne, has Michael Ignatieff said one thing that he hasn't regretted a week later?

Last month he advised he was election ready, and rolled out a run of poorly thought-out attack ads, suggesting that higher corporate taxes were the road to prosperity.. ignoring the reality that he stood silent and supported the cuts when the Conservatives brought them in.

Oh.

And how about those ads asking Canadians if they are better off after five years under Stephen Harper.

Really Michael?

To suggest that Canadians are that stupid is an insult to all of us.

Do we need any more evidence that Michael Ignatieff and his Liberal friends are a bunch of elitist, disconnected Liberal prigs than those ads?

Earth to Michael - while it may have escaped you, Ruby Dhalla and your pals, the rest of Canada and in fact the world have been struggling through the worst global financial crisis since the 1930's.  And that's not just hyperbole - as reported by Reuters in February of 2009:
"Three Top Economists Agree 2009 Worst Financial Crisis Since Great Depression"
So, Michael, while you may be worried that you aren't eating more caviar and haven't purchased a new Bentley in the last five years, the rest of us, the rabble, are appreciative of a government which has allowed us to basically keep our head above water during this recession.

Now.

That being said, there is another headline that you might want to read as you suggest that you are "Election Ready" - as reported today by Bloomberg:
"Canada Adds 69,200 Jobs, Four Times More Than Forecast"

While the U.S. economy continues a sluggish pace under liberal darling Barack Obama, here in Canada, as reported by Bloomberg, Canadian job creation was more than four times what economists predicted in January, with employment rising by 69,200 - confirming Canada's status as regaining all employment lost to the recession.

Let that sink in for a second Michael.

All jobs lost in the worst recession since the 1930's have now been regained.

Now.  Consider.

Remember the plan for prosperity lauded by Liberal predecessor, Stephane Dion?  Tax increases, increased burden on manufacturing and transportation with Stéphane Dion's "Green Shift" plan, and then increasing government spending by reviving the "Universal Daycare Plan" to assure all of our children are taught proper liberal-thought, ..apparently including bullying 6 year old children to make sure their mothers don't use plastic sandwich bags.

Are we better off after 5 years of Stephen Harper?

Compared to the alternative, you bet your ass we are.  And Canadians know it.  So, if you think you are "election ready" Michael, well, that just affirms how out of touch with your country of convenience you really are.

Perhaps we should start calling you "Monty" Ignatieff.
