Nancy Grace - Yelling "Fire" in a Crowded Theatre

THIS is the mainstream media.

So called "Headline News" debutant Nancy Grace telling the public that there is a state of emergency in California as a result of radiation from Japan.

Except it's complete and utter bullshit.

There is, and has never, been a statement of emergency declared in California related to radiation from Japan.

And when meteorologist Bernie Rayne tries to explain the facts to her, she does what she does - talks over him and expresses disbelief and doubt without a shred of evidence to back her up.

This is, effectively, yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre.

Already millions of people in Canada and the United States have been frantically buying up potassium iodine pills - for no good reason, with a risk of shutting down their thyroid if taken to excess.

And yet - while people get fired for daring to say something politically incorrect, she is rewarded for putting the welfare of people at risk by portraying herself as a journalist, and essentially doing nothing but trying to stoke the fears and insecurities of the public.

Time to Olbermann her too, me thinks.

So Nancy, if your personal scientific theory is correct - what are you going to do - have a mass evacuation to New York City? The woman has been double dousing herself with potassium. CNN should be held responsible for the hyperbolic screed and needless fear mongering. Cheers.

Maybe she should walk through airport security and shout "I have bomb"

Just can't help myself - Nancy will be the first to start a class action suit against the Japanese for mental anguish and radio active damages. There, I said it first. Cheers.

As a lawyer I was thinking more of a class action suit against Nancy Grace and Turner Broadcasting for all those who suffer thyroid damage as a result of being caught up in her baseless fear mongering.

While I wait to see what will happen with the nuclear plant, I tire of those who are yelling FIRE and petrifying people when they do not have or understand the facts. I saw some of her programming about this and was really surprised (or...not) to see her taking CNN/HLN headlines and adding more words to make it sound even scarier.

But today, for example, I was watching CNN discussing the radiation levels that have been testing at over 3000 times the limit set in regulations. At first I thought 'omg - 3000 times higher? that can't be good', but then I heard a quick one-liner thrown in by the reporter that said these levels pose no danger even to sea life in that very same area.

So then I realized even more that the regulation levels that are set are extremely low, far far below what would ever harm anyone or anything... so perhaps it would do some good for CNN and the like to follow up on that a bit more. Find out from true experts exactly how many times 'regulation levels' the radiation would have to be before it posed an actual threat to humans and other species. Report on THAT as well as the current readings, so that people can actually glean some proper information from the media.

I know these are from long ago, but can anything be done to shut this woman up. I understand freedom of press... but to continuely spew utter B.S. in the name of facts isn't what our founding fathers had in mind. Or is it they just didn't undertand the concept of ratings?
