Well.
There is class. And there is classless.
Today we read on BC Blue that a monumental display of ignorance and insensitivity has been exhibited by Tim Naumetz in an article in the Hill Times.
As I commented on BC Blue:
Jack Layton made a significant effort during his life to impact upon the political structure of our country, and for that he should be commended, as should the many who have passed before him. Politics is not an easy field, less so for people like Mr. Layton who toil to advance a view that has never been accepted by the dominant population of our country. For that effort he should also be commended and remembered well.
However.
For supporters of his party to invite criticism of the late NDP leader's politics while his body lies in state in Parliament, by seeking to raise political debate at this sad moment in Canadian history is, itself, sad and unfortunate. The letter written by Mr. Layton was touching - and in time, a discussion will be welcomed about its content and its import.
Now is not that time.
Now is time to share the collective loss of a country to consider not his politics, or his views, but the effort and tenacity of the man.
Mr. Layton, like many other Canadian politicians before him, Liberal, Conservative and NDP alike - showed himself to be a lion of a man as he strove to seek support for his view of the ideal society.
The article by Tim Naumetz does little more than sully the good-will that comes with these moments of collective appreciation by our country for the effort of one of our own. Naumetz, does, however, exemplify quite well the contrast between men who are lions, and those who are mice.

The event was a press statement, not a eulogy, for that raving idiot to see it as anything else shows how devoid the left can be of any propriety.
I wonder how he will spin the granting of a state funeral by PM Harper.

Wait until the general public hears that it wasn't actually written by Layton himself, but by his wife and a couple of NDP staffers. Then the casual insult about "restoring Canada's reputation" will be seen for what it really is.
The letter was also deliberately released halfway through the day in a cynical attempt to maximize media coverage. The NDP should be ashamed of this callous, insensitive political ploy on what should be a somber day of mourning.
Boy oh boy! You're really laying it on thick, aren't you!
I have no intentions of "mourning" someone I didn't know, especially someone who I didn't have a high opinion of to begin with.
Does that make me a bad person for not playing along with all sappy idiocy the leftard media is propagating? They're using the very same play book that they used when that so-called "Princess" Dianna kicked the bucket. It's enought to make a fella gag!
BC..
The life of a politician in this day and age is not easy - I don't care what party you support, but clearly Layton worked very hard during his life to advance his vision of what was best for the Country.
Now.
Don't misunderstand me.
I think the NDP, and socialists generally, advance a vision which ultimately leads to ruin.
But we can debate that next week.
For now, I would rather take the high road and appreciate the effort, if not the ideals.
Secure that few NDP supporters would have ANY class were it Stephen Harper passing away.
